The local office furniture market rose by almost 25% in H1 2008 versus H1 2007, being estimated at some 80 million euro, reads the July 22 issue of Bursa daily.
Relevant sources say the advance is owed to the big number of multinationals present in Romania, which have brought with them the culture of office design, but also the fact Romanians have become aware of the importance of a pleasant and personalized atmosphere at the workplace.
Bogdan Staicu, representative of Mobexpert, the leader of this market told Bursa the firms in Romania tend to renew their office furniture in a shorter period than before. This period reduced from 8-10 years in 2004-2005 to 7-8 years an present, close to western European tendencies", where the average renewal rate stands at 5-6 years.
The average growth rate of the local furniture market has stood in the past years at 5-7%, and experts consider that by 2011 the value of this sector may reach 100-120 million euro.
