Omniasig Vienna Insurance Group registered a 63% growth in subscribed gross premiums in H1 2008, from H 1 2007, reaching 614.66 million lei, the company said in a press release. The gross profit of the company amounted to 19.71 million lei.
"For the first time in the past years, goods insurance rose more than car insurance. The rise in the former stood at 151.5%, reaching 87.42 million lei, " the release said.
For car insurance, the highest rise was registered for optional insurance, where the volume of subscribed gross premiums rose to 320.55 million lei, up 115.6% from H1 2007. In this segment, the damages paid increased 139.5%, to 186.63 million lei.
The segment of mandatory insurance rose 25.5%, reaching 160.1 million lei. Damages increased 90.3% from H 1 2007, to 85.8 million lei.
Omniasig has been present in the insurance market in Romania for 13 years. In 2005, the company joined Vienna Insurance Group, VIG. The group is present in Romania with the companies Omniasig Life Insurance, Unita, Agras and Asirom. Omniasig currently ranks second in Romania, whereas VIG, through all the companies it holds, ranks first in the Romanian insurance market.
