Ubisoft Romania to hire 120 more until mid-2009

The French from Ubisoft Entertainment, the biggest producer of video games in Europe, will continue hiring people in Romania, despite the ongoing international economic crisis, which has made several companies halt their activity or make redundancies, daily Ziarul Financiar writes on November 24.
Ubisoft Romania, which currently employs 650 people, intends to hire more than 120 until mid 2009, said Sebastinen Delen, managing director Ubisoft Eastern Europe. According to him, the company will recruit 75 people for its office in Bucharest, which is operating as a regional center, and 51 more for the office in Craiova, southern Romania, opened in Sept. Ubisoft Romania estimates it will close 2008 with investment worth 15 million euros.

The company is seeking 35 game testers and 65 people for game development, namely programmers, designers. Candidates for a junior level must have theoretical knowledge in the field. Starting at intermediate positions, experience is also needed, said Delen.
“We are employing some 850 people in Eastern Europe, and our target is to reach 1,000 video game developers next year, 800 of them in Romania, in the offices in Bucharest and Craiova, as well as in other cities, “ Delen also said.
He stressed that no impact has been felt at the level of Ubisoft groups. “During this period, people have not travelled a lot, have not made investment, have not consumed a lot. Instead of all this, they have stayed at home and played video games. We expect the local video game market to keep growing next year, “ Delen emphasized.
