Bucharest Mayor Oprescu: Pay is not cut and all RATB bonuses are observed

Bucharest General Mayor Sorin Oprescu said on Thursday that the pay to the Bucharest Public Transport Company (RATB) employees will not be reduced and all the rights included in the collective labour agreement will be observed.

Oprescu added that all the bonuses granted for hard labour and long hours will be observed. He reiterated that the net pay of a RATB employee amounts to RON 2,400. „I believe with all my heart that public transport should be resumed and the situation should no longer be extended,” said Oprescu, adding that two million Bucharest inhabitants are not responsible for the situation.

Oprescu on Thursday participated in negotiations with the RATB management and trade union leaders of the company’s employees that lasted almost five hours, as in the morning hundreds of RATB employees went on a spontaneous strike over what they claimed were pay cuts and the non¬payment of Easter bonuses.
