Traian Basescu and Mihai Ghimpu visit oldest Romanian university, in Iasi

President Traian Basescu and interim President of the Republic of Moldova Mihai Ghimpu on Wednesday night arrived at the oldest modern university in Romania, the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi (eastern Romania), where they will deliver speeches and talk to the students of both countries that are studying in the seven hills city.

The two Heads of State were greeted by the representatives of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, headed by Professor Vasile Isan, PhD, and then led to the Mihai Eminescu Auditorium. The event is attended by members of the two states’ Governments, politicians and representatives of the local authorities, as well as by roughly 350 students, most of them coming from the Republic of Moldova.
