Gymnast Larisa Iordache, bronze medal winner at the 2012 Olympics and with gold at the European Championships 2012, is on the list of five athletes nominated for Piotr Nurowski award, which also includes a scholarship in value of 12,000 euros, announced the Romanian Olympics and Sports Committee.
The list of the five sports people, designated by representatives of the Association of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) also includes two swimmers, Charlotte Bonnet (France) and Route Meilutyte (Lithuania), an alpine skier, Marco Schwarz (Austria) and a gymnast, Oleg Stepko (Ukraine).
Larisa Iordache was invited, along with the other four others nominees, to be the guest of the 41st General Assembly of the EOC, which will take place on December 7 and 8 this year, in the Israeli town of Eilat. The final vote to choose the winner will take place on December 8, during the General Assembly.
Piotr Nurowski Award was created in 2011 in memory of the former president of the Polish Olympic Committee, a famous representative of the Olympic movement at international level, who lost his life in a tragic plane crash in April 2010.
