Sales of new cars on the Romanian market increased by 17.2 percent in the first quarter of the year on the same interval last year, reaching 82,258 units, according to the statistics published on Thursday by the Association of Car Makers and Importers (APIA).
The most active segment of the car market was the bus segment, with a five-time increase (that is a surge in sales by 405.7 percent), followed by the Romanian to decrease greenhouse gas emissions by 2012 weighting around 3.5-6 tonnes, with a 248.3 percent growth, while the sales of cars increased by only 12.4 percent (67,423 units).
The domestic production stood at 65,293 vehicles, out of which 62,831 cars, that is a growth by 20.7 percent against the same interval in the previous year (22.4 percent increase in the case of the cars).
Exports grew by 22.3 percent, up to 36,678 units, out of which 36,312 cars.
Imports climbed by 25.7 percent, reaching 59,057 units, with the growth in cars standing at 20.4 percent (46,098 units).
