The 2nd edition of the Bucharest Tourism Fair (TTB), held over May 9-11 in the Romanian capital, probably hit 1.5 million euros in overall deals, according to a representative of the National Association of Tourism Agencies from Romania (ANAT), one of the organisers of the event.
The tourist offers had such prices ranging between 70 and 10,000 euros, depending on the location and season, with the most successful having been the offers for the upcoming summer season. In 2007, approximately 10,000 people acquired tourist packages from the fair.
According to the ANAT representative, the main locations sought by the Romanians this year for the summer holiday were Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, the Romanian seaside or Tunisia.
On the occasion of the Easter and May 1 holidays, the tour operators cashed from the Romanian tourists some 30 million euros, out of which 12 million represented packages for holidays abroad.
Once with the opening of the summer season on the Romanian seaside, on the Black Sea shore, on May 1, the operators in the field estimated a higher interest of the Romanian tourists in the Romanian seaside, compared with the interest in the Bulgarian seaside.
Among the most important tour operators in Romania there are Happy Tour, Eximtur, Marshal Turism, Aerotravel, J’Info Tours or Paralela 45. The players on the loc al market hit in 2007 approximately 600 million euros.
