Romania benefits over 2007-2013 from 246 million euros funds from EU (85 percent) and Romanian state (15 percent) for developing and making efficient the public administration, said on May 15 State Secretary for reform in public administration Liviu Radu.
He said during the conference launching the project drafts for Operational Programme "Development of administrative capacity", that the funds would be administered by Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reform through the Management Authority for the Operational Programme Development of Administrative Capacity.
The official said that large parts of the sum would be allocated for the development of decisional process, the responsibility of public administration and improvement of operational efficiency, as well as the decentralization of services and their efficiency.
"We considered necessary to pay special importance to the development of human resources in the public administration after the Irish, Spanish or Finnish model, countries with good results in the field," said Liviu Radu.
He said that the staff in public institutions, in the central and local administration, must be trained in such a way as to bring their contribution at the standard of Western Europe states.
Liviu Radu said that funds would finance projects from 60,000 euros to 25 million euros. "There is a management capacity on projects in the Romanian administration and I am convinced that Romania can absorb the EU funds for the development of services in the public administration," he said.
