Romania should dare become the seventh power in the European Union, Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu said on Thursday at a ceremony where the flag bearing the new coat of arms of Maramures County was raised.
'We have a major interest in Romania winning the place it deserves in the European Union. We have to promote Romania as the seventh power in the European Union,' said Tariceanu.
He pointed out that last autumn the county seat Baia Mare hosted the launch of the 'Promote Romania' campaign for supporting customs, cultural and historical heritage and the people of the country.
Tariceanu also said Maramures is one of the historical provinces of Romania with genuine values that can promote Romania within the European Union.
Attending the flag-raising ceremony on Thursday were also the Maramures county prefect, the Baia Mare mayor, members of the county council and MPs representing the county.
