Non-governmental credit up 0.3% in July

The non-governmental credit advanced 0.3% (- 0.4% in real terms) in July 2008 from June 2008, to 178.690 billion lei, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) announced in a release.

The credit in local lei inched up 2.4% (1.7% in real terms), whereas the foreign currency credit expressed lei lost 1.5% (expressed in euros, the foreign currency credit went up 1.6%).
On July 31, 2008 the non-governmental credit was by 55.8% higher (42.9% in real terms) compared to July 31, 2007, as a result of the 39.4% increase in the local currency component (27.8% in real terms) and of the 73.2% growth in the foreign currency component expressed in lei (expressed in euros, the growth in foreign currency credit was 54.6%).
