As many as 35,233 construction permits for residential buildings were released in the first seven months this year, up 11.6% from the same period last year, said the National Statistics Institute (INS).
In July 2008, released were 5,839 construction authorizations for residential buildings, down 4.9% from June 2008 and up 5.7% from June 2007.
The highest rises in the number of authorizations released in the first seven months this year were registered in the development regions of South-Muntenia, 943 more authorizations than in the same period last year, Bucharest-Ilfov, south, 879 authorizations more, North-Western region, 627 authorizations more, North-Eastern region, 522 authorizations more, and in the Central region of Romania, 511 authorizations more.
In the West development region, the number of authorizations for the construction of residential buildings fell by 190.
In July 2008, released were 5,839 authorizations for the construction of residential buildings, 63% of them for the rural area, keeping to the trend in the previous month.
In the same period, in two of the eight development regions a slight rise was registered in the number of authorizations for residential buildings. The trend was seen in the West and Bucharest-Ilfov development regions. In the development regions of South-West Oltenia, North-West, Center, South-Muntenia, South-East and North-East drops were reported in the number of authorizations issued for the construction of residential buildings.
