Romanian-Japanese bilateral relations benefit from a potential amplified by Romania's EU membership, President Traian Basescu and Japan's Ambassador to Bucharest Kanji Tsushima said, when the latter was received at Cotroceni Palace, on Sept 2, on the special occasion of the conclusion of his mission to Romania.
Romania's President thanked Japan's Ambassador for his professionalism during his term-in-office in Romania and for his contribution to the development of the Romanian-Japanese bilateral relationships, Presidential Administration informed.
President Basescu expressed his satisfaction for the traditional good ties with Japan and emphasized Romania's interest in extending the bilateral cooperation with Japan in economy, culture and education.
During the talks, there were approached, inter alia, topics such as the international cooperation in fields of common interest, the cooperation in infrastructure projects as well as boosting the economic exchanges and the mutual investments, the source says on.
At the end of the meeting, Romania's President granted Ambassador Kanji Tsushima the National Order 'For Merit' in rank of Grand Cross, as a token of the high appreciation for his contribution to the development of the relations of economic, cultural and political cooperation between Romania and Japan.
