Romtelecom reports higher revenues and slowdown in loss of landline subscribers

The telecommunications operator Romtelecom, a division of the Greek group Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA (OTE), posted revenues amounting to 442.4 million euros in the first six months, up by 0.7 as against the 434.4 million euros in returns registered in the similar span of time last year, according to the financial results for the first six months that were made known by the OTE group on Aug. 28.
In exchange, the operating income before depreciation and amortization (OIBDA) decreased in the first six months by 24.5% down to 124.3 million euros as against 164.6 million euros in the similar span of time last year.

In late June 2008 Romtelecom had 2.994 million landline telephony subscribers, down by 3% as against 3.087 in late June 2007. The above-mentioned operator informs of a considerable slowdown in the loss of landline telephony subscribers when over June 2007-June 2006 a 18% drop in the number of landline telephony subscribers was registered.
The Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA, OTE group, owns 54.01% of Romtelecom. Its mobile telephony division, Cosmote, is represented on the Romanian market by Cosmote Romania, a company owned by the OTE group, through RomTelecom, 30% of the shares, and Cosmote Greece, 70% of the titles.
