Wood to be traded in authorized places only

Wood trading in market places or commodity exchanges will only be allowed if authorised by the local structures of the central public authority concerned with forestry issues, the Government reports in a press release.
The Romanian Government on August 27, approved a decision providing rules for the provenance, circulation and trade of wood, the wood storage facilities and the wood processing installations.
 
The conditions and regulations concerning the authorisation of the storage areas for wood shall be approved under a joint order of the manager of the central public authority concerned with forestry issue and the manager of the central public authority concerned with forestry administration.
Owners of wood storage facilities and other storage areas, as well as owners of wood processing installations are forbidden to receive, store, process or trade wood that is not accompanied by the required permissions or documents equivalent to accompanying certificates.
 
Wood workers employed by the central public authority concerned with forestry issues as well as the wood workers employed by the Romsilva National Forestry Corporation will be reporting agents and entitled with conducting control of the provenance and circulation of wood, as well as of wood processing installations.
 
The same rights are bestowed on officers of the Romanian Police and the Romanian Border Police, the staff carrying out financial and tax inspections employed by the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, as well as the staff of the Tax Guard and the wood workers employed by national park and natural park administrations.
The decision comes into force on October 1, 2008.
