Industrial output goes up 5.8% over January-July

The industrial production grew 5.8% over January-July, compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the National Statistical Institute (INS).
In July 2008, the industrial output fell compared to the previous month by 1.4% and grew as against the same period of the previous year by 5.1%.
The growth of the industrial production in the first seven months of the year was supported by the processing industry, which grew by 6.4% and by electricity and heating, natural gas and water, up 6.5%. The extractive industry fell 0.8%.
 
According to big industrial groups, rises were reported in the industry of capital goods by 12.5%, in the industry of fast moving consumer goods (9.2%), the industry of intermediary products (2.6%), energy industry (1.7%) and the industry of durables (0.2%).The decrease by 1.4% in the industrial production in July 2008 compared to the previous month was caused by the diminution in the processing industry by 2.8%.
 
The extractive industry and electricity and heating, natural gas and water went up 4.3%, and by 14.3 respectively. According to big industrial groups, reductions were reported in the industry of durables by 10.6%, the industry of the fast moving consumer goods (3.9%), the industry of capital gods (1.7%) and the industry of intermediary products (0.1%). The energy industry shrank 5.1%.
