Commercial turnover ups over 17% over January-July

The commercial turnover in retail, except for the trade in cars and motorbikes grew 17.1% over January-July this year compared to the same period one year ago, according to the National Statistical Institute (INS).
In July 2008, the volume of the turnover for retail trade grew as against the previous month by 12.2% and by 22.6% over the same month one year ago.
The rise in turnover for retail trade over January-July 2008 is an outcome of the sale of nonfood products, which reported a 19.7% rise and the sale of food products, beverages and tobacco, which grew 14.2%.
Over January 1-July 31, 2008 compared to the same period of last year, the volume of turnover in retail trade and wholesale trade, the upkeep and repair of cars and motorbikes, retail trade in fuel for cars, grew by almost 27%.
The volume of the turnover as regards the trade in cars, motorbikes, car parts and accessories, car upkeep and repair went up 32.3% and retail trade in car fuel went up 19.1%.
As regards the services for the population, the turnover’s volume went up 9.9%.
