Romania wants to tighten the bilateral relations with Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao as well as to use them as distribution platforms for the Romanian products both to the People’s Republic of China and the entire southeastern Asia, reads release by Romanian Government’s General Secretariat.
The meetings with the officials of both Regions, during the official visit, will contribute to the consolidation of the Romanian Chinese bilateral relations, Government’s General Secretary Gabriel Berca said.

The visit’s agenda scheduled meetings with governmental officials of the two Regions, working meetings at the Hong-Kong-based Containers Terminal 4, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the Business Promotion Center in Macao as well as the official opening ceremony of Romania’s General Consulate in Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR.

At the containers terminal in Hong Kong Port, the Romanian and the Chinese delegations agreed that Constanta Port (Romanian Black Sea shore) may represent the most valuable entrance gate for the Chinese products on the European market through the European Corridor 7.

Another important aspect of the visit was the appointment with the Transport and Public Works Minister and the Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) president when it was agreed on the promotion of an accord on civil aviation between Romania and Macao as well as on signing a protocol between the Macau International Airport and the Bucharest-based Henri Coanda International Airport.

“We are also analyzing the possibility to open a TAROM line between Bucharest and Macao with stopover in Dubai. This airline could turn the Henri Coanda International Airport into a transit hub for all the Europeans interested in flying to Macao,” Berca said.
At present, no other Airlines fly to Macao via Dubai, which could become an important decisive prerequisite for opening the TAROM-operated Bucharest-Dubai-Macao flight.
