Galati County Council joins Black Sea Euroregion

Galati County Council will participate, as a founding member, in the setting up of the Black Sea Euroregion Association, president of the said council Eugen Chebac told on Sept. 2.
He explained that in the association there were so far regions in Turkey, Ukraine, Bulgaria, and from Romania, only the county of Constanta.
“We have also introduced Tulcea and Galati, believing it is normal to do so, because the maritime Danube reaches Galati,” Chebac said.

The Black Sea Euroregion Association, based in Constanta, is a legal person and is a forum of cooperation between local and regional authorities in the Black Sea area.
It operates under the European legislation of cross-border cooperation. The Euroregion aims at the improvement of good governance practices, consolidation of democratic stability, environment protection, promotion of investment in renewable energies, development of infrastructure, access to European financing programmes, relations among people and cultural exchanges.
The county of Galati, along with the counties of Tulcea and Braila, is part of the Lower Danube Euroregion, which also includes the region of Odessa, in Ukraine, and the counties of Cahul and Ismail, in the Republic of Moldova.
The Lower Danube Euroregion, which will be a legal person, soon, will be based in Galati.
