Some 1.6 mln euros to be invested in upgrading waterways

The National Company for the Management of Waterways will invest in the period ahead some 1.6 million euros to purchase a ship for topo-hydrographical measurement and for the rehabilitation of the outer lighting of the Cernavoda, Agigea, Ovidiu and Midia-Navodari locks (in the southeastern Black Sea county of Constanta).

National Company director Ovidiu Cupsa told a news conference on Thursday that the relevant authorities seek that a ship should be designed and built to carry out topo-hydrographical measurements in the inner waters of the Danube-Black Sea Canal and the Poarta Alba-Midia Navodari Canal, in the port waters and off-port waters up to six nautical miles from the shore.
“The public acquisition procedure was initiated early this month, with the investment in such ship being put at one million euros”, Cupsa said.
