Net subscriptions worth 20.2 million at open-end funds in August

The flow of net subscriptions (gap between subscriptions and buybacks) in the open-end investment funds in August was of 20.2 million lei (or 5.6 million euros), the bulk – 5.5 million euros – in securities fund, according top figures carried on September 11 by the Association of Fund Administrators (AAF).The monetary and securities funds confirm upward trend and reported at the end of august a rise of 45.6 and 176.8% in net assets and by 3.6% in the number of investors as regards the securities funds.

The overall number of investors in open-end and closed-end investment funds stand at 176,554, most being in closed-end funds – 90,362 and diversified funds 50,416.
Net assets of the 52 open-end funds in Romania reached at the end of August 920 million lei, down 0.1% as against the previous month and by 3.5% lower compared to the end of 2007.
The securities funds (17) and diversified funds (19) continue to dominate the market, with net assets of 239 and 277 million lei respectively, down, however, by 6.7% and 3.5% as against July 2008.
Net total assets of open-end and closed-end funds exceed 1.004 billion lei. In August, the subscriptions of investors in the funds industry (open-end and closed-end funds) amounted to 48.6 million lei and buybacks at 30.3 million lei, net inflows standing at 18.3 million lei.
