Govt approves state aid for Ford Craiova

Romanian Government approved on September 18 a regional individual state aid to be granted to Ford carmaker based in Craiova, in compliance with the European legislation, with the aid being meant to support the development of the south-western Romanian region, Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu announced at the Victoria Palace on September 18.
He also added that the aid was notified to the European Commission by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in its capacity as the supplier and that it received the authorization from the body.
„The total investments of Ford in Craiova will reach 675 million euros, with two investment projects existing in fact, one devoted to the car making and one to the production of engines. The first state aid project is to be worth 94.45 million euros, over 2008-2012, with the other project to get 48.5 million euros, over 2010-2012,” Tariceanu said.
