Romanian exports in railway industry, 200 million euros in 2008

The Romanian makers of rolling stock and local companies specializing in railway technology will register this year exports worth some 200 million euros, said on Wednesday, secretary-general of the Association of the Railway Industry Stefan Roseanu, on the occasion of InnoTrans, one of the biggest fairs in its area in the world, held in Berlin.
“This year, exports will reach 200 million euros, out of the EU, firstly. I believe exports will rise 6 – 8%, at the same pace with the market, “ said Roseanu.
The Romanian railway industry exports mainly carriages and wagons, rolling stock components, repair and design services (Turkey) or equipment (Poland, Serbia, Hungary).
“Currently, the railway market in Romania reaches one billion euros, of which 800 million euros are exchanges with the EU countries, import of technology, in particular, “ Roseanu also said.
Romania has been present, in a first, with a national stand, at InnoTrans. Fifteen companies are present at Romania’s stand at InnoTrans, with the organization expenses standing at 200,000 euros, from funds of the Ministry for Small and Medium-Sized Companies, Trade, Tourism and Liberal Trades. InnoTrans 2008 covers an area of some 150,000 sqm, over 100,000 people are expected to visit the fair Sept 23-26.
From Romania, participating in the fair are the companies Eximprod Group, Club Feroviar, INDA, ISAF, Metabet, Proengineering (UTI), Remar SA Pascani, Remarul 16 Februrarie, Spiact Craiova, UCM Resita, CFR Marfa, Electrificare CFR, CFR Calatori, Astra Vagoane Arad.
