Sandero outstrips competition during European auto safety tests

Sandero model, the latest creation of domestic Dacia carmaker, has got very good results at the European auto safety tests EuroNCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme), under way over July-October 2008 and will be awarded four stars (the evaluation scale is from 1 to 5), sources from auto industry told.
Dacia Sandero is amid the tested cars in this EuroNCAP session, an independent body known for its car safety rankings and the official results will be published in November.
Sandero performance is notable, especially given the results, not encouraging at all, of the other low-cost models in competition. Chevrolet Aveo was awarded two stars and Hyundai Accent one star, whereas Fiat Albea and Renault Symbol passed “unnoticed” by EuroNCAP because they are not sold in Western Europe.
EuroNCAP is testing the newly launched models for which the annual sales on th e European markets exceed 5,000 units. Tests are made in special centers in Germany – at Geman Automobile Club ADAC, in Belgium (EuroNCAP headquarters) and in England (at the Ministry of Transport).
Logan was awarded three stars by EuroNCAP, the main problems being driver’s and passengers’ safety in the case of impact and safety belts. According to auto experts, these problems were tackled by the Logan facelift that, in case it is tested, would get four stars.
The maximum qualifying mark granted by EuroNCAP, according to the current grid, is 5 stars and was obtained till now by dozens of cars sold in Europe. But tests are made under “laboratory conditions” and the impact speed is of 64 km./h.
Sandero, the fifth model in Dacia range, is sold in Romania since the first half of June for prices ranging between 6,890 and 9,850 euros (with VAT).
The new model benefits of a three-year warranty or 100,000 km and it must be revised after 20,000 km., being the most advantageous offer on its auto segment.
As well, Sandero is the sole car on the market at this price which is equipped with latestgeneration Bosch 8.1 ABS which incorporates EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and, for the first time in the Dacia range, EBA (Emergency Brake Assist), as well as driver’s airbag.
