Thales and Alstom, interested to participate in expansion projects at Bucharest subway

Thales, one of the world’s largest players in Mission-critical information systems for the Aerospace, Defence and Security markets and Alstom, one of the main world’s players in equipment and services for power generation and rail transportation, have announced their participation to the tender Romanian authorities organise for the expansion of the Bucharest subway.

“The Bucharest subway represents a potential market for Thales, both while referring to the new segments to be built and also to the current segments. The Romanian market is interesting for us and we will continue to invest here, as we are already present in the Romanian railway sector, nevertheless sometimes there appear certain difficulties when launching new projects,” Vice-Chairman of Thales Jean-Pierre Forestier told.
Alstom representatives also announced their participation to the tender for the building on new segments at the Bucharest subway.
“Alstom will take part in the tender for the building of new segments at the Bucharest subway, as we consider such projects, which are quite complex, should be taken care by a single company,” Alstom Transport Romania Chairman Gabriel Stanciu said.
Thales is already involved in Romania in the rebuilding project of the Pan European Railway Corridor IV, while Alstom ensures the maintenance of the Bucharest subway, with projects in the railway sector too.
