Hungary, Greece and Portugal remove restrictions imposed on Romanians

The governments of Hungary, Greece and Portugal decided to remove the restrictions for the free movement of manpower coming from Romania and Bulgaria starting on January 1, 2009, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) on Tuesday (Jan 6).
Thus, the Romanian citizens can work in Hungary, Greece and Portugal without having a work permit, on a equal footing with the citizens of these states or with the citizens of the other European Union member states, reads the above-mentioned source.
These decisions are in the spirit of the fundamental principles of the European Union, among which the free movement of persons holds a most important place, as an essential component of the economic growth and of the competitiveness on the domestic market and are an expression of the special quality of Romania's bilateral relations with these states, informs a release issued by MAE.
