Lows under -20 degrees Celsius in Harghita for fifth day in a row

On Monday (Jan 12) morning, in Harghita County (north-east of Bucharest), it was -20 degrees for the fifth day in a row, the lowest temperature, -23 degrees, being recorded in Miercurea Ciuc.
Meteorologist on duty at the weather station in Miercurea Ciuc Karoly Tanko said that it was -23 degrees Celsius in the morning, at 8 o'clock, after it had been – 21 degrees all night. It is very cold in the other places in the above-mentioned county too.
At Toplita and Joseni it was -22 degrees Celsius, at Odorheiu Secuiesc, -15 degrees and at Bucin, -8 degrees Celsius.
Karoly Tanko insisted on saying that it was for the fifth day in a row that the temperature fell below -20 degrees Celsius in the county mentioned before. The lowest temperature was on January 4, when it was -27.4 degrees Celsius at Joseni.
The lowest temperature in January in Harghita was -38 degrees Celsius in Miercurea Ciuc in 1985 and the highest was 12 degrees Celsius in 2001 in the same city.
