Romanian ForMin Diaconescu paying official visit to Moldova

Romanian Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu on Thursday (Jan 22) morning left for an official one day visit to Chisinau, where he will be welcomed by Moldova's President Vladimir Voronin and have talks with his Moldovan counterpart Andrei Stratan.
Talks with Moldovan authorities will focus on the prospects for the development of bilateral ties, cooperation to get Moldova closer to the European Union, as well as regional issues.

On Friday, the Romanian chief diplomat is scheduled to visit Kiev to meet its Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Ohryzko. He will also be welcomed by Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko and Chairman of the Supreme Rada Volodymyr Litvin and meet other Ukrainian officials as well.
The officials will analyse the overall Romanian-Ukrainian relationship and discuss themes of common interest, including the continuation of political dialogue, economic cooperation, culture cooperation, national minorities and boosting regional cooperation.
At his hearings to become the foreign minister in December 2008, Diaconescu said the relationship between Romania and its neighbours will be among his main ministerial priorities.
