The Romanian Parliament’s lower Deputies’ Chamber on Tuesday will host a celebratory sitting to mark the Council of Europe’s 60th anniversary, a release said on Monday.
The works will be moderated by deputy Cezar Preda, who chairs the Romanian Parliament’s Delegation to the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly (PACE).
The event is structured by two working sessions on ‘The Cooperation between Romania and the Council of Europe – Building a democratic system in Romania’ and ‘The Partnership between Romania and the Council of Europe in the period ahead’ respectively.
Addresses will be delivered by Speaker of the Deputies’ Chamber Roberta Anastase, vice- Speaker and member of the Romanian Delegation to the PACE Adrian Nastase, general director of the Council of Europe’s Directorate General for Democracy and Political Affairs, Jean Louis Laurens and State Secretary for Strategic Affairs at the Romanian Foreign Ministry Bogdan Aurescu, among others.
The Handbook for Values on Life in a Democracy issued by the Council of Europe to celebrate the anniversary will also be launched during the meeting and a photo exhibition on Romania and the Council of Europe will be opened.
