Capital’s Mayor Sorin Oprescu is leading the top of voter confidence, with 44.7 percent, according to an opinion poll conducted over May 3-5 by the Group for Social Studies (GSS) 2000, and released on Thursday.
According to the poll, Oprescu is followed by President of the National Liberal Party (PNL, in opposition) Crin Antonescu, with 36.2 percent and by President Traian Basescu, with 34.4 percent.
Next come George Becali, President of the New Generation Party (PNG) – with 32.9 percent, M ircea Geoana, President of the Social Democratic Party (PSD, in the ruling coalition) – 31.7 percent and former Premier Adrian Nastase – 21.1 percent.
The poll data show that the sitting Premier Emil Boc comes ahead of the former Premier Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, with 20.1 percent as against 19.7 percent.
The Group for Social Studies 2000 conducted this poll for the Association of regional cooperation and development, on a sample of 1,092 people aged 18+, in 118 localities (of which 64 in urban zones, 54 in rural zones and Bucharest municipality).
The error margin is of 3 percent and results are likely to be guaranteed in a proportion of 95 percent.
