The net nominal average wage reached 1,402 lei in March 2009, up 3.2 percent (44 lei) as against February 2009, according to figures centralized on Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The gross nominal average wage was of 1,922 lei in March 2009, up 3.2 percent over the previous month.
The highest values of the net nominal average wage were reported in the activities of financial brokerage, 3,527 lei and the lowest in the wood processing industry, 759 lei.
In March 2009, in most economic activities the level of the net nominal average wage was on the rise as against February 2009, following the granting of occasional bonuses (annual bonuses, the 13th salary), sums of net profit and other funds (vouchers), salary negotiations and high productions.
Compared to March 2008, the net nominal average wage grew in March 2009 by 17.6 percent. The index of the real wages compared to the same period of the previous year saw a rise of 10.2 percent.
