Romania goes on campaign for EU Parliament elections on Friday
The Central Election Bureau has announced that the campaign for the election of the Romanian representatives in the European Parliament begins on Friday, at 0 hrs a.m.
The electoral campaign kick-starts 30 days ahead of the election day of June 7 and it will wrap up on Saturday, June 6 at 7 a.m.
Six parties, an electoral alliance and two independent candidates run in the elections for the 33 seats assigned Romania in the EU legislative.
First on the ballot paper is the National Liberal Party (PNL), followed by the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), the Democrat Liberal Party (PD-L), the Alliance of Social Democrats and Conservatives (PSD+PC), the Christian Democratic National Peasant Party (PNTCD), the Civic Force, the Greater Romania Party (PRM), and independents Elena Basescu and Pavel Abraham.
It is for the first time that Romania oranises an election for the European Parliament for the full five-year term of the legislative.
Romania held its last elections for the EU Parliament on Nov. 25, 2007, with its MEPs having held the seat for about two years.
