National and European premiere in clusters, in Timisoara

The Regional Office for the Promotion and Certification of Clusters (ORPCC) was inaugurated at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (CCIAT) of Timisoara (western Romania) in a national and European premiere, as part of a project funded through the Neighborhood Programme Romania – Serbia 2004-2006, carried out by CCIAT in partnership with the trade chambers in Pancevo and Zrenjanin (Serbia), reads a press release.

Late last year the EU Commissioner Gunther Verheugen recommended the governments of the EU countries to boost and support the setting up of clusters, through adopting specific national policies because clusters represent Europe’s future, CCIAT general manager Menuta Iovescu stressed.

Romania’s Government will approve a line to finance the clusters and will draw up a national strategy for clusters for which the materials CCIAT achieved in the project are an extremely useful support.

The Regional Office for Promotion and Certification of Clusters (ORPCC) offers information, consultancy and assistance on the advantages of setting up, organizing and promoting the clusters, to those interested.
