In the first four months of the year, 40,141 new cars were registered on the Romanian market, reflecting a 58.6 percent plunge compared to the similar period last year.
ACEA statistics reflect the automotive markets in 28 European states – 25 European Union member states (without Cyprus and Malta) and three EFTA states – Iceland, Norway and Switzerland. In the first four months of the year, a total of 4.694 million cars were registered on these markets, showing a decline of 15.9 percent from the similar period in 2008.
The number of Dacia cars registrations on these market stood at 18,384 units in April 2009, showing a 137.6 percent surge compared to the similar period in 2008, when 7,737 units were registered.
As such, the Dacia brand market share rose from 0.6 percent to 1.6 percent. In the first four months of 2009, 49,855 Dacia cars were registered in the 28 European states, a jump of 52.7 percent from January-April 2008 (32,641 units).
Overall, the Renault Group car sales on the 28 markets, in the first four months of 2009, amounted to 354,692 units, down 17.6 percent as against Jan. – April 2008.
