Basescu: Cooperation between Romanian and Moldovan local authorities could consolidate historical relation
A better cooperation between the local administrations in Romania and the Republic of Moldova could consolidate the historical relations between the two countries on the opposite sides of the river Prut, said the Romanian President Traian Basescu, who attended the official opening of the first edition ‘The Forum of Local Authorities in Romania and the Republic of Moldova,’ that took place in the eastern Romanian city of Piatra Neamt.
He said the fundamental premise for the functioning of the partnership between the authorities of the two countries is the political will, also underlining the importance of direct dialogue and interpersonal contacts.
Almost 150 mayors from cities and town in Romania and Moldova participate in Piatra Neamt, in the first edition of the Local Authorities Forum.
The discussions focused on administrative decentralization in such fields like public health, public order, culture and social assistance.
