ForMin Cristian Diaconescu addends European Forum in Wachau
At the event, Diaconescu will deliver the plenary keynote speech titled „Between the Black Forest and the Black Sea – Danube, a vital connection for Europe,” informs a Foreign Ministry release.
The participation of the Romanian Foreign Minister in the Forum is part of a series of joint Romanian-Austrian approaches to promote the initiative for drafting a European Union Danube strategy that should contribute to the economic, social and cultural development of the region along the river and to strengthening cooperation with riparian countries from outside the EU, reads the cited source.
The European Forum in Wachau was launched in 1995 at the initiative of the Lower Austria Land and is organized annually under the aegis of the Forum president Johanna Miklos-Leiner, with support from the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs.
This event has become a framework for dialogue and reflection on topical issues on the European Union’s agenda, laying stress on the regions’ role and contribution to the development of the European project.
