Romania to attain 800 mln euros under Regional Operational Programme

Romanian Minister of Regional Development and Housing Vasile Blaga signed on Friday a new contract on financing under the Regional Operational Programme (ROP) worth more than 15.9 million euros, with this being the biggest Romanian project on the rehabilitation of town roads.

By this project called The upgrading of roads in the city of Targu Mures (northwest of Bucharest), the Regional Development Ministry reaches the amount of 800 million euros contracted under the ROP.

‘While yesterday we had 767 million euros worth of ROP projects signed, today we are nearing 800 million euros.

The contracting pace is a good one, at 25 million euros a week, which allows me to say that the original proposal I made the Government, i.e. to sign one billion euros worth of contracts, might be attained by mid-year. This means we’ll exceed the projections in this respect by far’, Blaga said in Targu Mures.

The funds are assigned under the ROP’s 2nd priority axis, the 2.1 major intervention area which calls for the rehabilitation and upgrading of the county roads, town roads and the building and upgrading of ring-roads.
