‘The stake may appear bigger when the current picture of Romania in the European Union is considered. Unfortunately, over the past years we failed to improve the perception of both the EU citizens and the EU politicians over Romania.
I believe that in the context of the ongoing economic crisis we have to pay a lot of attention to the developments in Romania’s picture abroad,’ Csibi told in an interview.
Csibi also said that Romanian MEPs should act so as Romania will no longer be viewed with a critical eye by Europe, and that is why on June 7 the Romanian voters will have to elect the best of the candidates.
PNL understands the importance of the European election and wants to import to Romania a politics of arguments, said Csibi, adding that he knows many of his rivals in the election and respect them, but there are among them some who have played petty politics.
‘Most of the candidates in the European election from the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Democratic-Liberal Party (PD-L) are people whom I respect and with whom we had excellent cooperation within the European Parliament, for instance Daciana Sarbu and Constantin Dumitriu.
But then, there are also some persons for whom I cannot have a similar respect. For instance, I cannot understand the aggressive petty politics of intellectual Cristian Preda and I also cannot understand some MEPs campaigning on purely domestic issues,’ said Csibi.
