Basescu: Romania calls for observer status in five other OECD committees

President Traian Basescu stated on Tuesday, on „Henry Coanda” Airport, at his return from the official visit paid to France that, in the meeting with Secretary general of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Angel Gurria, he called for Romania be granted observer status in five other OECD committees.

„On the occasion of the meeting with OECD Secretary general, I called for observer status in five other OECD committees in the immediately following period, namely the Committee on Nuclear Energy and the ones for trade, agriculture, education and taxation”, stated the head of state.

He added that he „firmly” urged Angel Gurria to send shortly an evaluation mission, in order to assess the fulfillment stage of criteria.
President Basescu stressed that, currently, Romania is a member with full rights or observer status in 13 committees of this organization.
