Geoana: Romania is bridgehead for Japanese products in Europe

Romania can be a bridgehead for the Japanese products in Europe, said President of the Senate Mircea Geoana during the talks with Prince Akishino of Japan and Princess Kiko on Wednesday.
Mircea Geoana presented a few fields of interest for Romania as regards the relations with Japan.
„There are three fields in which we want to cooperate with your country. Japan is the most important country in the world in point of research and innovation and Romania can be a bridgehead for the Japanese products to Europe.
The environment protection is another field that is very important for Romania. I am recommending you the Danube Delta, one of the gems of the biosphere. We can also strengthen the Romanian-Japanese relations by means of a cooperation between the academic environments,” a press release quotes the President of the Senate as saying.
Mircea Geoana also stated again Romania’s strategic interest in the development of the relationships with Japan.
„At difficult moments, friends must close up. Take to Tokyo our message of respect for your country and hope of a continuous development of the relations between Romania and Japan,” said the President of the Senate.
According to the above-mentioned source, Prince Akishino voiced hope that the visit to Romania would lead to the strengthening of the relations between the two countries.
„I am glad that we are marking the 50th anniversary of the official relations being resumed by this visit,” said Prince Akishino.
He said he was also delighted with the large number of Romanian students interested in Japan and voiced hope that ever more numerous of them would have the opportunity to visit his country.
In her turn Princess Kiko thanked the President of the Senate for the warm reception and voiced wish to participate in the cultural events specific to Romania for a better knowledge of the Romanian people.
