President Basescu, Prince Charles discuss about Carpathian region development

President Traian Basescu has met on Thursday, at Cotroceni Presidential Palace, with Prince Charles, the current economic and financial crisis, fight against climatic change, ecological farming and steady development featuring among the approached topics, the Presidential Administration informed.
Head of the Romanian state addressed his thanks to the Heir of the Throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the steady support and attention paid to Romania and for the numerous activities Prince of Wales is involved in Romania.
To this end, the project of the setting up of a Secretariat for the Carpathian region development was evoked, aimed at facilitating the affirmation of a significant Romanian contribution in the framework of the Carpathian Convention.
Traian Basescu hailed the mission assumed by the Permanent Secretariat in the sense of the achievement of an integrated approach in the regional development field and encouraged this body to offer assistance in the field of European funds accession.
As well, President Basescu remarked the very good results of the actions promoted with the aid of the Prince of Wales for the conservation of the mediaeval fortresses and the development of social assistance services for orphaned children.
Prince Charles has arrived on Thursday in a private visit to Romania.
