Report of Schengen evaluation mission is examined in Bucharest

The report of the mission evaluating Romania on the accession to Schengen area was examined on Thursday by police commissioner Petre Toba, who is the general inspector of the Romanian Police’s General Inspectorate and president of the National Authority on Personal Data Monitoring and Processing, Georgeta Basarabescu said.
The two Romanian officials voiced satisfaction at the experts’ remarks related to the cooperation between the two public authorities involved in preparing the Schengen accession process, particularly highlighting the training of the police staff on the protection of personal data, with the support from the National Monitoring Authority, the release said.
The mission that evaluated Romania ahead of its accession to Schengen area was conducted over April 29 – May 1.
Romania pledged to join Schengen area in March 2011.
