Basescu reiterates support for Serbia’s accession to the European Union
President Traian Basescu reiterated, on Monday, with the occasion of the reception of of ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Bucharest Zoran Popovic, who presented his credentials, Romania’s support for an accelerated of Serbia towards accession to the EU, as well as the liberalization of the regime of visas with the European Union, the Presidential Administration informed.
Traian Basescu stressed the importance which Romania attaches to the implementation of the European standards as regards the rights of the minorities, so that the Romanian ethnics in the entire territory of Serbia can benefit from the same right granted to the Serbian minority from the rights granted by the Romanian state to the Serbian minority in our country.
The ambassador of the Republic of Serbia voiced confidence during the course of its mandate of the economic bilateral partnerships. In this respect, he spoke about the support of his country for the promotion of the European corridor of transport on the Danube.

Traian Basescu assured the new Serbian ambassador about the support of the Romanian authorities in carrying out his mandate in Bucharest, and hoped success in the activity he will carry out in Romania.
