Romania has poor management of information security

Romania does not have specialized civil organizations in place for the detection and analysis of cyber incidents or attacks, Eduard Bisceanu, information security expert with the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), on Monday told the Conference CyberSecurity.
The SRI official added that one of the most widespread forms of cyber attacks is the theft of identity and PIN card codes at either ATMs or upon online purchase payments.
Although the solutions forwarded by SRI for these issues are quite extensive, Bisceanu acknowledged that the only civil institution that could handle the identification of attacks at national level, CERT (the Information Security Expertise Center), is not yet functional.
„Although it was established three years ago, CERT is not currently operational because of lacking funds,” explained Bisceanu.
