Tourism minister: We’d like to privatise some companies on BVB

The Tourism Ministry is considering privatising part of the companies it holds by means of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) if such an option proves timely, Minister Elena Udrea said at the opening of the BVB trading session on Monday.
‘I hope the investors in tourism get listed on the BVB and that their quotations rise. There are some companies in the Tourism Ministry’s portfolio for which we’ll design privatisation via the BVB itself.
We want to privatise such companies in such a manner if an analysis we are going to carry out in this respect shows it is a timely move. It is a bad time for privatisations, but the tourist companies can find funding in this way’, Udrea stressed.
The tourism minister opened Monday’s trading session on the BVB. The ministry currently has 12 companies in its portfolio, in most of which it holds a minority stake.
‘The BVB has a huge potential for the tourist companies that can find financing levers at a time when the access to loans is rather difficult’, BVB president Stere Farmache said.
