Romania’s greenhouse gas emissions down 1 pct in 2007 compared to 2006

Greenhouse gas emissions in Romania fell by 1 percent in 2007 compared to 2006, shows a study conducted by the European Environment Agency.
„The recent decline in greenhouse gas emissions in the EU-15 gives us confidence that we will successfully achieve the targets of the Kyoto Protocol. With more than half of the EU- 15 member states having registered notable reductions in emissions in 2007, our main concern now is that the December 2009 Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen reaches an ambitious agreement on climate changes for the period after 2012.
This will create the framework for the future reduction of gas emissions worldwide,” said European Commissioner for Environment, Stavros Dimas.
