There number of registrations of new merchandise transport vehicles dropped by 48 percent in January-June, 2009, from 50,460 vehicles in the same interval a year before, down to 26,308 vehicles in January-July, 2009.
There were registered 197,746 passenger transport vehicles in the first 6 months of the year, compared with 239,537 vehicles in the same interval a year before.
In the first half of 2009, there were recorded drops in the number of new registrations in all the categories of passenger transport vehicles, compared with the same interval in 2008.
The most significant such drop was recorded in the buses and microbuses category, with a 79.2 percent drop recorded compared with the first half of 2008, while the small cars recorded a drop by 14.9 percent.
With regards to the number of new registrations of merchandise transport vehicles, the most significant drop was recorded in the tractor-trailers and car-trailers category, of 96.8 percent, compared with the same interval in 2008.
Compared with the second quarter of 2008, there dropped the registrations of new passenger vehicles by 23.4 percent, from 116,939 down to 89,592, with the merchandise transport vehicles recording a slump by 53.7 percent, from 27,121 vehicles down to 12,565 vehicles.
