PM Boc: I have asked ANAF and FinMin to look into combating tax evasion

Prime Minister Emil Boc told Government at an extraordinary meeting on Saturday that he asked the National Tax Administration Agency (ANAF) and the Finance Ministry to come up with an analysis of the manners in which tax evasion is manifested as well as ways of combating tax evasion that could be eventually turned into legislative acts or Government decisions.

‘I have asked ANAF and the Finance Ministry to come up with an analysis of the manners in which tax evasion is manifested as well as ways of combating tax evasion in Romania, because it is important that we make sure taxes are rightfully serviced because some companies pay their due taxes while other smart alecks do not,’ said Boc.

He mentioned that the fields that should be included in the analysis regard excise duties and bogus companies, for which combat ways will be devised, and the analyses will be submitted to the next ordinary meeting of Government scheduled for August 11, so that they may be translated into laws.

On Friday Boc said that as far as the mandatory tax on businesses was concerned, it reached its end, which was to force owners of bogus companies to wind up their business, and that the next step will be restraining the tax to business areas where tax evasion can be best fought against through taxation, for instance restaurants.

He explained that an analysis was conducted by the ruling coalition into restraining the mandatory tax and a final decision about the time of restriction will be taken as soon as the figures about the Romanian economy are out, expectedly soon.
