Geoana: If any interest existed in efficient privatisation, many sectors in industry would have survived
‘I was very pleased to see that your factory is the largest beneficiary of private foreign funds in the Oltenia region (southern Romania).
If the interest in efficient privatisation was the same all over Romania, many sectors in the Romanian industry would have survived, with employees keeping their jobs too,’ Geoana said.
‘I think this is a great success for Eurotire that, starting on February 2010, it is going to have a production capacity of more than 19,000 tonnes of rubber on an annual basis, which is going to strengthen also its position as the leader of the off-the-road-tyres (OTR) industry,’ Geoana said.
He also promised the Eurotire employees that, if he was to become the Romanian president, he would support the development further too of this platform producing giant tyres.
The Eurotire factory in Drobeta Turnu Severin participated with four giant tyres over September 21-24 2008 in the largest tyre fair worldwide – MINE – EXPO, that was held in Las Vegas.
So far, there appeared to be interested in acquiring Eurotire products big companies like Caterpillar (US) and KOMATSU (Japan) and BHP (Australia).
The PSD head and Speaker of the Romanian Senate Mircea Geoana also said in the end that ‘the Romanian industry could come out of the financial crisis only if, both the politicians and the businessmen, through policies and efficient solutions, will stimulate such efficient companies as Eurotire.’
