Labour minister: Last quarter-year to see ‘the beginning of the end’ of Romania’s economic crisis

The last part of the Q4 of 2009 can mean ‘the beginning of the enď of the economic crisis in Romania, Labour, Family and Social Security Minister Marian Sarbu said on Monday, Aug 17.

‘We hope that the last part of the fourth quarter of this year may represent the beginning of the end of the economic crisis in Romania,’ Minister Sarbu said.

As for the pensions rise scheduled for October, Sarbu said that the programme established for this bracket remained valid.

‘The increase by two percent of the pension point in October stays in force, the same as in the case of the minimum guaranteed social pension, which is to grow from 300 to 350 lei,” he stressed.

The labour minister added that the financial effort for covering the rises would amount to 200 million lei, for the last three months of 2009 alone.
Exempt from the increase that the Labour, Family and Social Security Ministry plans are the pensioners belonging to special labour groups, Sarbu concluded.
